Cursillo

The Cursillo is a worldwide movement of the Catholic Church. It provides a method of living the Christian life where one’s spirituality may be developed, lived, and shared. The three-day weekend experience is a joyous introduction into a supportive and growing community of friends in Christ–men and women who are working to bring Christ into their everyday lives. The Cursillo is designed to make it possible to live in union with Christ and to desire to bring others to Christ. The retreat starts on Thursday evening and ends Sunday afternoon after a closing mass. The cost for the entire weekend is $100. To learn more about the movement, please go to the National Cursillo USA website HERE or check out the video below from the Greater Hampton Roads Lay Directors Debbie and Lisa.

School of Leaders

For Cursillo leaders, the School of Leaders is a vital and essential community not only for doing the work of the Movement, but also to provide support and encouragement for the leaders. It is important that the School of Leaders meets regularly in order to sustain the progressive conversion of its leaders. The School is a place of formation whereby we grow in our commitment to Christ and the mission of the Church. The School of Leaders should not be a drop-in center for Cursillistas. That is why we have Ultreya. The School of Leaders forms and develops Cursillo leaders in the mentality of the Movement and offers a Christian community for support (Fr. Frank Salmani).

Ultreya

It is a weekly or monthly gathering of all Cursillo Group Reunions in an area to share in prayer. At each gathering, one pre-determined member gives a witness talk about how our Lord is currently present in his or her life.

In addition, once a year a Grand Ultreya is held, a larger regional or Diocesan gathering, where Cursillistas join in worship and sharing their lives and the love of God. Grand Ultreyas are meetings of larger groups of people who have either participated in a Cursillo weekend or who might be interested in doing so. Here, Cursillistas pray, share, and enjoy fellowship with others so that their own faith and community can be built up.
